OMF's Core Values
Doors are wide open for ministry in Japan. With less than 1% Christians in Japan, Church Planting is still the major task OMF is facing in this country. Evangelism among
young and old, through personal witness or "bold new initiatives",
through English or Events is a challenge we have put before us. Training those
who are believing for evangelism and church leadership is a vital key
to see a vibrant, biblical church reproducing in Japan and reaching out
in missions.
Dependence on God: OMF Japan affirms that all that we attempt to
accomplish in ministry is based upon a firm reliance on the promises
and resources of God, and that living in prayer and faith are
crucial to us. Our conviction is that our ministries are God's and not
our own, and that we have been given the privilege of participating in
the establishment of His kingdom in Japan.
Effective Ministry: We affirm that we are most effective when we
seek what God desires for us to accomplish, and when we faithfully do
our ministry in God's way and in His strength. Our desire is to serve
God in a way that our resources are used to maximum capacity with an
emphasis on innovation and creativity.
Teamwork: We recognize that God has called us to be a
part of His body, and that no one has all the gifts required for
effective ministry. Therefore, we seek to work together as
missionaries, national workers and church members in developing and
using our gifts. This calls us to value methods which are transferable
and which motivate and equip for ministry.
Multiplication: We are committed to churches planting churches. To this end we emphasize the training of disciples and leaders.
Member care and development: We believe that as Fellowship members we must care for each other. As
we serve the church in Japan together, field leadership seeks to
encourage mutual ministry to one another, giving attention to pastoral
care, personal growth and professional development.
